Jyoti Patel
Ms. Patel has over 20 years of experience in private-sector equity and fixed-income investments, having developed quantitative trading strategies, portfolio stock selection models, and risk-management systems at leading U.S. asset management firms including Fidelity, Putnam, and Nuveen. Jyoti transitioned to the Impact Investment sector in 2008, working as the director of global investments at Accion.
Jyoti has led the design and management of pioneering affordable housing funds. She co-created the business plan, fund structuring and financial model for the $100 million MicroBuild Fund, the first global affordable housing fund of its kind, and from 2012–2022 led the impact investment vertical at Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter, managing MicroBuild in partnership with the Dutch impact fund manager, Triple Jump B.V. In 2017, she launched the Shelter Venture Fund at Habitat to support early-stage innovations along the housing value chain. She has also served as a guest lecturer on Housing Microfinance at the International Housing Finance Program, Wharton School (2017–2022) and University of Cape Town (2020-current).
Presently, she consults with Triple Jump B.V., Village Capital, Missio Invest, and other U.S.-based NGOs on climate-resilient affordable housing and impact investment initiatives in agriculture, WASH, livelihood, healthcare, and education. Her consultancy mandates involve creating investment strategy, impact thesis, designing blended finance portfolio models including guarantee structures, multi-factor risk rating framework and building probability-based models for start-up fund investing in pre-seed, seed, and series A stages using equity and equity-like instruments.
Jyoti earned her Bachelor of Commerce and completed full coursework in Masters of Financial Management from the University of Bombay. She completed her Master of Science in International Business and Finance from Southern New Hampshire University and earned a diploma in Client-Server Application from Clark University.
